The road to POTUS

I'm thirty. A full five years from even making an official run at the White House, so I figure I have plenty of time to listen to America and firm up my political stance. I'm a conservative Christian with liberal views on social welfare. I'm a democrat, but I'm also well aware that there are plenty of issues we, as a party, need to continue to examine and grow with. Drawing party lines and refusing to budge doesn't do much but create a disgruntled majority. It's time to get reach all Americans. It's time to realize that being a democrat doesn't mean you aren't religious or that being a republican doesn't mean you don't care about the environment. As a whole people want the same things. They want freedom and safety; they want oppurtunity and advancement; they want shelter and care for their family. We are a nation of peoples not of parties and we have to figure out a way to govern as such.

I hope you walk with me on this the first step on the road to POTUS.

You state that you are a conservative Christian with liberal views on social welfare. I find that to be very interesting. In what ways/topics are you conservative on? How do does your conservative Christian view affect your view of abortion? In my experience, when someone says they are a social liberal, I have know them to be pro-choice. Just interested.

I am a conservative Christian, with conservative social views. I don't know how I could be a Christian and be liberal on social welfare.

We live in a great country where we are free to chose who we are and what we believe. Kudos to your new blog!

I'm pro life, but believe firmly in the separation of church and state.

I think it muddies the water to try and govern based on faith. If we look at our past from all faiths, we can easily see how governing based on a religious doctrine has had very adverse consequences.

Socially I believe that we can't claim to be a nation for the people, by the people and of the people if we don't in fact take care of all people equally and provide an equal playing field.

A lot of that comes from my faith. The greatest commandment of all, "Love they neighbors as thyself"
